Care for Casualties is a British charity launched in early 2009 to raise funds in order to assist British servicemen and women from The Rifles who have been wounded or injured during service in Iraq or Afghanistan, as well as helping their families.

Since The Rifles' formation in 2007, we have seen almost continuous action in Iraq and Afghanistan, the commitment to which has come at a cost. We have seen over 62 Riflemen Killed in Action, around 30 suffering a loss of 1 or more limbs, 2 Riflemen who have been permanently blinded and 2 who are in the care of neurological  units and who will remain there for the rest of their lives.  Our very seriously injured are aged between 18 and 26 and have many years of active life ahead of them.  Additionally we have approximately 300 other soldiers with serious injuries. The looming concern is the very likely increase in recorded psychological problems, well documented as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which we can anticipate will manifest to a greater degree in the coming years. It is clear therefore that the need for help will continue for many years to come.

Scotty’s Little Soldiers aims to provide relief from the effects of bereavement to young people who have suffered the loss of a parent who served with the Armed Forces of the Crown.

The charity provides its beneficiaries with support and guidance throughout their childhood and offers a respite, however brief, from the daily ups and downs of coping with the loss of a parent.

Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting bereaved British Forces children and young people.

Inspired by the experience of Army widow Nikki Scott, the charity honours husband Corporal Lee Scott’s memory – both as a loyal soldier and a loving father – and provides a practical yet personal way for the public at large to show their appreciation for those brave individuals who make the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country.
